Packed midfield, weakened attack: Reds’ provisional squad vs Barca revealed

Liverpool have been dealt a huge blow as both Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have been ruled out of the squad for the Champions League clash against Barcelona at Anfield.

The Brazilian is still recovering from a muscle injury while Salah suffered a nasty collision with Martin Dubravka in the 3-2 win over Newcastle and is now on the concusiion protocol.

Klopp: “Two of the world’s best strikers are not available and we have to score four goals against Barcelona. That doesn’t make life easy, but we will try. If we can’t do it, let’s fail in the most beautiful way.”

Naby Keita is likely to miss the game with a groin strain while Adam Lallana is also a doubt.

Other than that, everybody is fit which means Jurgen Klopp will have enough options in the midfield and defence. However, the Reds attack is something that is raising biggest concerns possible.

With that in mind, below is the 19-man provisional squad for the upcoming game.

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Mignolet, Kelleher

Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Matip, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson, Moreno

Midfielders: Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri
